Since 1972, konfAir has combined technical ingenuity with good sense. This is the story of how, over more than 50 years, we have built a business with integrity and strong relationships.
1972 – From a Jutland farm building to an international filter manufacturer
It all started humbly in 1972, when Lise and Erik Alstrup founded the company under the name “KONF-AIR”. The first premises were set up in farm outbuildings at the family home in Nøvling, where diligence and craftsmanship laid the foundation. The first two years were spent manufacturing compressed-air stackers for the textile industry, but in 1974 the story took a new turn. We began a close collaboration with the German needle-felt manufacturer BWF, which marked the start of our production of filter bags – a specialization we have continued to develop ever since.
1985 – From sole trader to private limited company
As the workload grew and knowledge of our filter solutions spread, the framework became more formal. In 1985, “KONF-AIR” was converted from a sole tradership to a private limited company under the name “KONF-AIR Miljøfiltre Vildbjerg ApS”. It was a natural step to future-proof the business and assert our position as a reliable supplier to industry.
1996 & 2000 – Generational change and expansion
The first 34 years of the company’s life took place within the familiar surroundings of the old farm buildings, from which we slowly but surely expanded the business. In 1996, a generational handover took place when Erik’s son, Christian Alstrup, took over the running of the family business.
Under Christian’s leadership, expansion truly gathered pace around the turn of the millennium. In 2000, we extended production with a new building in Vildbjerg, and to ensure our flexibility and competitiveness, we simultaneously started our own production in Lithuania. This gave us the capacity we needed to keep up with demand.
2006 – konfAir A/S is founded
In 2006, “konfAir a/s” was established as we know it today. It was also the year we moved our Danish operation to our current premises in Tjørring. The move means that today we have a total production area of more than 6,000 m². The modern facilities have given us room to grow – without ever forgetting where we came from. Our DNA is the same, and the customer remains at the center of everything we do.
